Ashtabula County Board of Developmental Disabilities

Female, living in Ashtabula, is in need of 24/7 awake staff in her home. She is a fall risk and needs to be close and constant when she’s ambulating. She has visual supervision when she is sitting or laying down. It is helpful for her to have a variety of crafting materials available at her disposal to help decrease her boredom and/or nervousness which causes her, at times, to pick at herself. If she becomes too nervous or anxious, she will pick at the skin on her arm and head. If staff notice her picking at her skin, please provide her with a preferred activity of her choice to partake in, or suggest to go on an outing with her to deter her from picking at herself. She takes pride in the fact that she is able to freely speak her mind, and she is also proud that she has increased her tolerance and positive outlook on life throughout the past years. She also prefers to ONLY have female staffing work in her home.
She has a history of attempting to binge eat during the night, so it is critical that all HPC staff working with her must remain alert and awake to ensure her health and safety. Staff need to ensure she attends all medical appointments and all recommendations are followed up on as she recently had a pace maker put in. She can request alone time, but staff should check in, and be sure to hear her if she needs help. It is important to her to get out of the house, visit the beach, get coffee,
and go shopping. She enjoys plants, spending time with her babies, and doing arts/crafts. It is important for her to maintain a consistent routine, use her walker, get exercise, and be able to get out into the community.
