Ashtabula County Board of Developmental Disabilities

17 year old male, living in Conneaut, is in need of respite. The hours and days will be coordinated with the family on an as needed basis and would mostly be after school hours and on the weekends. He has no safety skills and would need help in the event of an emergency. He will sometimes have self-injurious behaviors including hitting the wall, biting his hand, hitting his hear and pushing/pinching others when upset. He will attempt to eat inedible things such as drywall and/or chew on cords. He requires close supervision and cannot be left alone. He will try to elope out of the house if he has the opportunity and will not pay attention to traffic or weather. Positive praise is best when redirected. He uses his Ipad, watches his favorite shows and have his blanket and stuffed animals. He will need help in changing his diaper as well as cleaning him up. He needs supervision while eating and help him clean up afterwards. The desired start date is ASAP. This will be private pay.
